Ouarzazate Province: Mr. Benmoussa visits schools affected by the earthquake

This visit is part of the monitoring of all the measures taken to guarantee the continuity of courses for students until the completion of the construction and renovation operation of schools that suffered material damage following this natural disaster.

Thus, Mr. Benmoussa visited the Al Mokhtar Assoussi high school, located in the commune of Tidli, and the community school of Ighrem Nougdal before visiting the Abdellah Ben Yassine school group, in the commune of Telouate, the Imam Ali high school and the Agouim pioneer school (commune of Ighrem Nougdal).

This tour was an opportunity to see for ourselves the state of these educational establishments and to learn about the different conditions inherent in the conduct of studies within these establishments.

At the same time, the minister held a series of meetings with the educational and administrative staff of these establishments as well as with the associations of parents and guardians of students in order to inquire about the conditions in which classes are taking place in the impacted schools.

In a statement to the press on this occasion, Mr. Benmoussa stressed that the mobilization continues in order to guarantee that students can continue their classes in appropriate conditions.

“Students in schools affected by the earthquake have resumed classes in tents/classrooms or undamaged rooms,” the official assured, adding that efforts are continuing to help apprentices overcome the impact of the earthquake, particularly through psychological support, specific assistance and parallel activities.

This visit, he continued, allowed to see up close the extent of the damage in certain establishments, stressing that the objective now is the reconstruction of the establishments affected by the earthquake.

He added that the reconstruction operation will be carried out according to a design that promotes the improvement of the quality of educational establishments and respects all safety standards, including resistance to earthquakes.

On the sidelines of this visit, Mr. Benmoussa learned about the progress of the implementation, at the provincial level, of the “Pioneering Schools” project, which is part of the deployment of the 2022-2026 Roadmap for a quality school for all, and with a view to improving students’ basic learning by adopting new effective teaching methods and approaches.

This field visit is part of the efforts made by the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports to ensure the resumption of classes in the areas affected by the earthquake.
