Oujda: 90 children suffering from cleft lip and palate benefit from Operation Smile

Initiated by the Association “Opération Smile Morocco“, under the Honorary Presidency of HRH Princess Lalla Meryem, and in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, this humanitarian initiative aims to give back hope to the parents of children suffering from facial malformations and to help them smile again.

In a statement to MAP, the vice-president of Operation Smile MENA (Middle East/North Africa), Fouzia Jbara Mahmoudi, indicated that this humanitarian medical campaign is being carried out with the assistance of a medical team made up of healthcare professionals and volunteers, who are highly qualified in several specialties, and coming mainly from Morocco and 12 other different countries.

“More than 13,230 children have benefited from free and safe surgical interventions, thanks to the unwavering commitment of our volunteers alongside us, their skills, their dedication, their know-how, and their altruism,” she said. .

Operation Smile Morocco, has provided free surgical care to more than 12,800 children as well as thousands of consultations and surgical, dental, orthodontic, psychological, speech therapy, orthognathic and ENT follow-up. The Association has also helped train hundreds of medical volunteers in the field of cleft surgery, anesthesia, dentistry, and nursing.
