Oujda-Angad: visit and inauguration of agricultural and rural development projects

The minister was accompanied by the Wali of the Oriental Region and governor of the prefecture of Oujda-Angad, members of the Regional Chamber of Agriculture, professionals, elected officials as well as a large delegation of officials from the Ministry.

The visit focused on the inauguration and launch of agricultural and rural development projects as part of the implementation of the provincial agricultural plan of the Generation Green 2020-2030 strategy in the prefecture of Oujda-Angad. It also focused on the progress of the program to reduce the impact of rainfall deficit in the prefecture, a press release from the ministry said.

At the level of the douar Mhamid in the territorial commune of Ahl Angad, the minister took note of the program for the construction and development of rural roads in the prefecture of Oujda-Angad and the activities scheduled for 2022-2024.

On this occasion, Mr. Sadiki chaired the inauguration ceremony of the rural track in Douar Mhamid, built over a length of 3.3 km for an investment of 2.13 MDH.

With a total cost of nearly 9 million dirhams, the program of tracks in the prefecture aims to open up the rural population of the douars and facilitate access to the services necessary to improve their living conditions. It allowed the development of 19 km of rural tracks for the benefit of the populations of the communes of Ahl Angad and Bni Khaled and Isli.

At the level of Douar Lahwawssa in the territorial commune of Ahl Angad, the minister learned of the progress of the program to reduce the impact of the rainfall deficit in the province of Oujda-Angad.

This program includes the distribution of subsidized barley and compound feed, the vaccination of 275,963 sheep and goats and the treatment of 3,095 hives against Varoise, the digging of 5 water points, the acquisition of 6 cisterns, in addition to the hydro-agricultural development of an area of ​​1,300 ha.

In this context, 124,750 quintals of subsidized barley and 24,285 quintals of compound feed were distributed and supplementary irrigation was carried out for the maintenance and sustainability of plantations over an area of ​​1,150 ha.

Mr. Sadiki learned about the progress of the work to build a water point in Douar Lahwawssa. With a total cost of 1 million DH, this project, in the civil engineering phase, will reduce the impact of the rainfall deficit in the douar and secure the irrigation of fruit trees, particularly olive and almond trees, to ensure their sustainability.

At the level of the territorial commune of Ain Sfa, the minister launched the first project to aggregate the carob sector in the Oriental Region as part of the implementation of the Generation Green 2020-2030 strategy.

The project brings together at its inception 16 aggregated farmers on an area of ​​628 ha in the municipalities of Ain Sfa, Rislane, Mestferki and Sidi Moussa Lamhaya. It consists of building and equipping a carob packaging and processing unit, technical supervision and training of aggregated farmers.

The project aims to enhance the value of the carob sector by extending plantations over an area of ​​2,200 ha, improving yields to reach 5 T/ha, creating jobs and improving farmers’ incomes. It will have a direct socio-economic impact on the Region, since it will improve the conditions for enhancing and marketing agricultural production.

At the level of the territorial commune of Ain Sfa, the Minister took note of the regional program of direct seeding which is part of the Ministry’s guidelines for sustainable and eco-efficient agriculture, in accordance with the provisions of the Generation Green 2020-2030 strategy. The program aims to reach 50,000 ha on a regional scale, including 9,500 ha at the level of the prefecture of Oujda-Angad by 2030.

The minister also learned about the program for direct sowing of cereals in the prefecture of Oujda-Angad. This provides for the creation of an area of ​​238 ha for the current campaign.

At the level of the Commune of Ahl Angad, Mr. Sadiki visited an olive oil crushing unit, built and equipped within the framework of the Public-Private Partnership.

With an investment of more than 9.7 MDH, the unit is specialized in the production of extra virgin olive oil. It has a storage capacity of 200 tons of oil and a processing capacity of 80 T/day.

The project will create 67 direct and indirect jobs, improve the quality of olive oil for export, improve the income of producers participating in the project, develop the olive industry in the region and preserve the environment.
