The Wali of the Oriental region, governor of the prefecture of Oujda-Angad, Mouad Jamai, accompanied in particular by the president of the Regional Council, Mohamed Bouarourou, launched the construction project of this market, for a budget of more than 13.4 million dirhams (MDH).

This project, which will be built on an area of more than 2 hectares, aims to contribute to the development of commercial activity in the commune of Naima and to improve the supply of food products to the inhabitants of this commune.

Mr. Bouarourou told MAP that this project is part of the implementation of the partnership agreement relating to the rehabilitation and modernization of 51 weekly markets in the provinces of the Oriental region, for an estimated cost of 550 MDH, in order to meet the needs of the populations in food and fodder and to contribute to the development of economic activity.

This project is the result of a partnership between the Oriental Regional Council (175 MDH), the Ministry of the Interior (50 MDH), the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (125 MDH), the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests (100 MDH), as well as the municipalities which are contributing 100 MDH.

The delegation also handed over 6 school buses as part of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH), for a total estimated cost of 2.4 MDH, for the benefit of three local authorities and 3 associations.

In this context, the head of the social action division at the prefecture of Oujda-Angad, Anas Salah, indicated that these buses will contribute to reducing school dropout, particularly among young girls, and to promoting the population’s right to education.

He added that three buses have been allocated to associations active in the field of supporting people with disabilities, which will allow this category of the population to benefit from the services of the centres under the INDH, which are managed by these associations.

The Wali also presided over the inauguration of a private technical and scientific institute including a clinic, for a budget of nearly 50 MDH and a capacity of 50 beds, as well as a student residence comprising 54 small equipped apartments that can accommodate around 80 students, in addition to a nursing training institute with a capacity of 500 trainees.
