This meeting, chaired by the party’s secretary general, Mohamed Nabil Benabdallah, and in which academics, researchers and party activists participated, is part of the activities and meetings commemorating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the PPS.

During this conference, the emphasis was placed in particular on the social assistance project, the challenges and the party’s recommendations for expanding the beneficiary categories.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Benabdallah stressed the importance of consolidating the foundations of the social state and the promotion of social justice with regard to the expectations of the disadvantaged sections, expressing the party’s willingness and commitment to contribute to its success.

“This project fits perfectly with the party’s societal project, which the PPS has been campaigning for for a long time,” he argued, noting that the generalization of social assistance is capable of ensuring a threshold of real equity for all.

Welcoming the initiative to initially provide direct aid to one million families, the PPS Secretary-General did not, moreover, hide his discontent with this figure which, according to him, remains “well below the objectives that had been initially projected by the government”.

“The party recommends that the Executive establish standards and thresholds of real equity for all disadvantaged categories, particularly in terms of direct aid or social protection,” agreed the former minister.

For his part, the economist and party member, Mohamed Benmoussa, said in a statement to the press that this meeting is intended to be an opportunity to closely examine the challenges and shortcomings relating to the territorial implementation of the social protection project, stating that the PPS has just drawn up a dashboard of the current situation and wants to contribute to the building, in particular through well-thought-out recommendations, by advocating improvements to the way the social assistance system operates.

In the process, a vibrant tribute was paid to several party veterans in the Oriental region, as a sign of recognition of their actions and their contribution to the party’s efforts to promote itself.
