The world record holder in the high jump, Yanko Bratanov and Ivan Kolev were guests at another meeting in connection with the 100th anniversary of Bulgarian athletics

Two of the legends of Bulgarian sport and the president of the BFLA were guests at another meeting dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Bulgarian athletics. Stefka Kostadinova and Yanko Bratanov told vivid memories of their competitive years, of the way they achieved European, world and Olympic successes.

“The world record in the high jump of 209 cm is Bulgarian, it belongs to all our compatriots and I believe that it will remain so in the future through the performance of our talented young stars. For me, it is very important that our leading athletes and coaches work more with sports psychologists, especially before and during major tournaments and championships,” said Kostadinova, before commenting on the preparation of the Bulgarian Olympians for the games in Paris this summer.

At the meeting with the media, the commemorative medals for the centennial anniversary of the Queen of sports in our country were also presented. The president of BF athletics, Ivan Kolev, introduced the attendees to the many activities to celebrate the anniversary, culminating in November, and to the ambitions of the headquarters to renovate the now-abandoned academic center in Geo Milev quarter as a future center for athletics in our country. The meeting began with a one-minute silence in memory of the distinguished coach Hristo Gergov, a long-time mentor of Yanko Bratanov.
