Brigitte’s father has dementia. What has changed since then and what the disease means for the daughter.

In the beginning there was a phone call. A friend contacted Brigitte in December 2020. She met her father in Innsbruck, the caller said by chance, he looked confused, didn’t recognize her, didn’t know where his children lived.

Brigitte has lived in Salzburg since 1998, around 200 kilometers from her 83-year-old father. “I have always visited him regularly, since Corona it has been less frequent. That is why I may not have noticed certain changes right away,” says the 51-year-old.
