From July 7 to 12, Vanuatu Prime Minister Charlotte Saluai was on an official visit to China, during which she gave an interview to the China Media Group, in which she shared her impressions of the country’s policies on a wide range of issues such as innovative and urban development, environmental protection environment, dealing with climate change, building infrastructure, protecting and transmitting traditional culture, pointing out that these provide valuable experience to Vanuatu.
Saluai recalled that several Vanuatu islands are taking advantage of the Belt and Road Initiative to build road, school, sports and other infrastructure, while exporting agricultural products such as coffee and coconuts to China. these products reach the Chinese market through the China International Import Expo and other platforms.
“We are grateful to China because the country not only helped us build a port and roads on a number of islands, but also provides us with assistance in natural disasters, as well as medical assistance in our schools and for the community,” he added, quoted by China Radio.
“China regards Vanuatu as a friend and brother. We respect each other as sovereign countries and do not interfere in each other’s internal affairs,” Saluai stressed, adding that with joint efforts, relations between China and Vanuatu have become an example of ties between developing countries based on mutual respect, unity and coordination.
