Director General of the Physical Education Department at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Muwaffaq Abdul Wahab, confirmed that Iraqi sports still need the infrastructure for all the Olympic and Paralympic Games, while he explained that we could have achieved better results and won more medals in the Paris Paralympics.
Abdul Wahab told the (INA): “What our champions achieved in the Paris Paralympics was satisfactory, but it was also possible to achieve better results and win more medals,” indicating that “more than one athlete was able to achieve fourth place, meaning he was very close to snatching the bronze medal.”
Abdul Wahab added that “Iraqi sports still need the infrastructure for all the Olympic and Paralympic Games and the investment of great government support for all activities,” noting that “sports have become the language of communication between the world and reflect the civilization and history of peoples through it.”
Abdul Wahab explained that “the great level presented by the Iraqi delegation received praise from participating countries from all over the world after the amazing numbers of our champions in this great event, praising the efforts of the Paralympic Committee from administrators, technicians and players,” stressing that “the achievement that has been made should be reinforced by other achievements in the upcoming events as well as working from now for the next four years to come out with a greater outcome in the next Paralympics.”
Abdul Wahab continued, “The Minister of Youth and Sports, Ahmed Al-Mubarqa, directed that all efforts be made to support athletes in the Olympic and Paralympic Committees according to the controls and instructions, in order to achieve high accomplishment.”
