Chennai: Governor RN Ravi said that the music of our country is divine. On behalf of the Indian Academy of Music and Arts, a program called ‘Swarna Navadi’ was celebrated in Chennai for 2 days to mark the 90th birthday of famous Carnatic musician ‘Padmabhushan’ TV Gopalakrishnan.

On the first day of the event on 16th, TV Gopalakrishnan’s music CD containing 42 songs and his book was released. 108 people were given ‘Acharya Navratna’ award and 99 people got ‘Acharya Ratna’ award for the best musicians.

On the 2nd day of the program held on 17th, Governor RN Ravi, Tamaga President GK Vasan, Chennai Music Academy President ‘Indu’ N. Murali, Businessman Nallikuppusamy, Municipal Corporations Federation President K. Harishankar, Music Artist Prince Ramavarma and others participated.

Governor RN Ravi said:

Music is not a part of entertainment. It has centuries of history. In particular, our country’s music is considered divine. People who connect with nature live longer. That way, TV Gopalakrishnan will live long. We have celebrated 75th Independence Day. He will be with us even as we celebrate our 100th Independence Day. This is what the governor said.

After that, all the special guests wished TV Gopalakrishnan on his birthday and shared their memories with him.

Later, D. V. Gopalakrishnan delivered the acceptance speech. “Music is in everyone’s life. If you can talk, you can sing. Our music is great. I traveled all over the world to spread this. I wish all my students, including Laiyaraja, Rahman, Shivamani, that their passion for music should never diminish,” he said.

His music concert which followed was enjoyed by the guests including the Governor.
