Berlin: The West is united against Russia after its invasion of Ukraine. The US and European Union countries have imposed tough sanctions on Russia. A supermarket chain in Germany is now embargoed on any food item by Russia.
Germany’s largest supermarket chain Edeka has kicked Russia out of its sandwich ice cream. The supermarket has registered its protest by renaming its famous sandwich ice cream ‘Moscow’ to ‘Kyiv’. Declaring support for the people of Ukraine, the Russian capital was kicked out of the ice cream.
Customers can now only get Kyiv ice creams. All the ice creams in the Moscow packet have been removed. This is not the first time that Russia has been excluded from the list of food products.
Earlier, In restaurants in French cities including Paris, the name of the French-Canadian dish “Poutine” which is cooked with potato fries, cheese, yogurt, gravy etc. was changed to fries-cheese. When pronouncing RThis was due to the similarity with the name of Chinese President Vladimir Putin.
