Melbourne: Captain Muhammad Nabi is no longer leading the Afghan cricket team, which has lost two out of five games and lost three. The player expressed his dissatisfaction with the team and resignation on Twitter.
‘The preparations of the team were not as planned by the captain in the last one year. Moreover, in the last few trips, the team manager, the selection committee and I did not move things with the same mind. It upset the rhythm of the team” – Nabi said.
In the Twenty20 World Cup, the team started losing the first game against England and later lost against Sri Lanka and Australia. The games against the New Zealand and Ireland teams were also rained out.
Nabi said that the team’s performance in the Twenty20 World Cup was not as expected by the Afghan people and was disappointed. However, he said that he will be with the team as a player and not as a captain.
