What happened in season 3 of the Outer Banks?

Welcome to Pogueland

Remember that at the beginning of season 3, we find John B, Sarah, JJ, Kiara, Papa, Cleo on a sublime deserted island, which they simply decided to name Pogueland (or Poguelandia in the original language). However, their time on their island paradise will quickly come to an end when a pilot named Jimmy comes to their rescue. If at first glance, we are relieved for our adventurers, it turns out that Jimmy eventually tries to kidnap our Pogues. After a crash landing on the island of Barbados, the Pogues eventually escape from Jimmy’s grasp, except for Kiara who is unfortunately captured. Jimmy then takes the teenager to Carlos Singh’s house. Here, Kiara comes face to face with Rafe…

Why is Rafe in Barbados? Why is Carlos Singh interested in the Pogues and Rafe?

But what is Rafe doing there? While Ward recovers from his injuries at Guadalupe, Rafe and Rose decide to sell Cros Santo Domingo to the highest bidder. After consulting with an antiques dealer who tells them they have a potential buyer, Rafe and Rose travel to the island of Barbados to meet this famous buyer in person. Surprisingly, it is none other than Carlos Singh, who spent most of his life searching for the legendary lost city of El Dorado.

The latter tells Kiara and Rafe that a Spanish soldier came out of the Orinoco basin nearly 450 years ago and described a city of gold called El Dorado. Since then, Singh has been looking for Tanny’s Danish diary so that he, in turn, can find this mythical city. In fact, the sailors of the Royal Merchant stole the cross from the San Jose, another ship that had already found the El Dorado. In other words, this means that Denmark Tanny may have received the intention to go to El Dorado, and therefore he certainly wrote it down.

What is going on with the Pogues during this time?

Of course, they are looking for a way to help Kiara. After finding Jimmy, the Pogues use his phone to set a trap for Singh and set up a meeting. Unfortunately, JJ forgets to turn off Jimmy’s phone geolocation, allowing Singh to send his clothes instead. Although the gang barely escape Carlos Singh’s henchmen, Kiara and Rafe manage to escape on their own and reach Rafe’s boat, which Kiara buys to save the other Pogues. The teenager relays her location to her friends, who manage to board the boat, heading for the Outer Banks. However, John B is not ready to leave because of the bells he hears.

Petit withdrawal : When he was just a child, Seán Mór used to call his son by ringing a bell in a very special way. Back in the present, John B hears the church bells ringing in a familiar way, so he decides to go there. Here, he finds his father! However, there is no time for emotions, because Carlos Singh’s exes arrive and start chasing them.

What is the connection between Big John and Carlos Singh?

If you remember correctly, it was Carlos Singh who saved John B’s father from the island where everyone thought he was dead. After that, he took Big John to the island of Barbados to help him find El Dorado. A short-lived collaboration since Big John escaped and left some artifacts (he stole from Singh) related to the El Dorado with a local antiques dealer. Actually, the Artifact is half of the pole representing the Orinoco, the river supposed to lead them to El Dorado.

Back at the church tower, John B and Big John manage to escape Carlos Singh’s men and go to the antique dealer to retrieve the artifact and head back to the Outer Banks.

Gathering in the Outer Banks

Back in the Outer Banks, Big John convinces his son to work with him to get hold of Tanny Denmark’s diary, while keeping the other Pogues at bay. The father-son pair decide to go to Mr. Sunn, the Pogues’ high school teacher to whom they gave a copy of the diary, to see if they can get it back. Unfortunately for them, Carlos Singh is already there and grabs Tanny’s Danish copy of the diary first. Seán Mór and John B went in pursuit of Singh’s men to retrieve the valuable document, but Seán Mór decides to use force and shoots the men to retrieve it.

As a reminder, the Danish newspaper Tanny mentions a priest’s tomb, which would have been added to an image that Seán Mór and Eoin B think is half of the artefact they recovered from the antique store. To get their hands on him, they go to a cemetery in Charleston to search for the grave. Eventually, they discover that all the artifacts are housed in the Charleston Museum Archives.

Meanwhile in the Outer Banks, Ward sends Rafe to take care of Cameron’s family affairs and asks him to donate the cross to charity. When Sarah overhears Rafe talking about it, she warns the Pogues who decide to retrieve it. But that was without counting Rafe, who melts down the real cross to make gold bars.

And now what happens?

Singh manages to kidnap Big John and capture the artifact. For his part, John B, with the help of JJ, manages to find the famous “Neville” that Sowell spoke of. The latter draws them a map detailing the location of the South American ruins.

Now on the island of Kildare, John B no longer has a place to live and has been getting further away from the Pogues since his return. Meanwhile, Wade has returned to the Outer Banks to suppress Rafe, who now does as he pleases. For her part, Sarah manages to convince Wade to let the Pogues use his private plane so they can go to South America. It should be noted, however, that it was not an easy task for the Pogues to get there.

As a reminder, Kiara’s parents sent her to Kitty Hawk, a camp for rebellious teenagers, but JJ came to rescue her. After the kiss, they fly aboard a drug trafficker’s plane, bound for the Orinoco bay. The rest of the Pogues, and Ward, arrive safely at Tres Rocas and rescue Big John before heading upriver to the ruins.

How does Outer Banks season 3 end?

The Pogues, Big John and Ward eventually arrive at El Tesoro. During the night, Ward leaves to share his job with Carlos Singh while Big John, Sarah and John B find the place to place the artifact (which is actually Solana’s Gnomon) to reveal the path to El Dorado. When they present the artifact, a light shines on characters that will allow them to decipher Tanny’s Danish writings. But, of course, nothing is so easy Outer Banks… Just as they have deciphered the diary entries, Singh and his men come in, making it possible to hunt him down.

Badly injured, Big John still manages to tell Sarah and John B where the El Dorado cave is located, which the two teenagers (finally!) find. After filling an entire bag with gold, Sarah and John B leave the cave but come face to face with Singh. Another conflict then begins, and many deaths are tragic: the deaths of Ward, Singh and John Mór.

At the end of the last episode, the Pogues are back in the Outer Banks. It is then that a mysterious man comes to them and gives him Blackbeard’s logbook…
