Colombo,

The chancellor’s palace was looted

On the 9th, a people’s revolution broke out against the rulers who did not solve the economic problem facing Sri Lanka. Thousands of people from all over the country thronged the capital and besieged the presidential palace.

Then they broke in and looted and stayed inside the mansion for a few days. There they ate and drank and made the residence of the country’s president their lodgings.

Similarly, the Prime Minister’s official residence Alari House was also occupied by the protesters. This caused a global shock.

They informed the rulers of the people’s upheaval, and then left there on their own. It was only then that the Sri Lankan security forces were able to take control of the offices of the President and the Prime Minister

Precious Artifacts

Following this, the security forces conducted an inspection there. It has been found that more than 1,000 ancient artefacts have gone missing from the President’s House and Prime Minister’s offices. Considered to be the greatest art treasure, these objects are priceless.

Shocked by this, the Sri Lankan government has set up a special investigation team to investigate the disappearance of the above items and to find and recover them. The team has started an investigation.

But finding these items is problematic. Because the archeology department does not have proper documents about the details including the number of objects kept there.

Officials of the Department of Archeology said that although the President’s Palace has been declared as a special archaeological site and the materials there have been taken possession of by the government, as the details are not available with the Department of Archaeology, there is a problem in recovering them.

Cabinet meeting

Meanwhile, the first meeting of the new cabinet in Sri Lanka was held yesterday under the leadership of President Ranil Wickremesinghe. It was decided to ensure the smooth functioning of all institutions like the President’s Secretariat, Prime Minister’s Office and schools and bring normalcy in the country within a week.

The Cabinet was informed that since the country has one month’s worth of fuel in stock, the work of distributing it on quota basis will be expedited.

Ranil Wickremesinghe said that the security forces have been empowered to ensure constitutional processes and create an environment where people can live without fear.

It is reported that Ranil Wickramasinghe is discussing further expansion of the Council of Ministers in order to bring all the parties together in the government.

At the same time, the opposition parties are asking Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena to convene the Parliament to discuss the forceful removal of the protestors gathered near the President’s Secretariat by the security forces.
