Over 1,00,000 Complaints Received Through C-VIGIL App in Thiruvananthapuram for Lok Sabha Election Violations

Thiruvananthapuram: 1,07,202 complaints have been received in the state through the Election Commission’s C-VIGIL app for reporting complaints regarding violations of the Lok Sabha election code of conduct. Action was taken on 1,05,356 complaints found to be true of these. Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Kaul informed that action is being taken on 183 complaints. This is the figure from March 16 to April 7, when the election notification was issued. There were 93,540 complaints regarding unauthorized posters and banners and 5,908 complaints regarding defacement of property. 2,150 complaints were received regarding posters that did not include mandatory information and 177 complaints regarding unauthorized use of vehicles. Other complaints include distribution of money(29), distribution of liquor(32), giving of gifts(24), display of weapons(110), hate speech(19) and use of speaker after time limit(10). As many as 1,663 complaints were dismissed as lacking in substance.
Complaints submitted with a short note along with a photo of the violations and a video of not more than two minutes will be acted upon within 100 minutes. C-Vigil application can be downloaded from Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
