Sustainability is at the heart of many corporate strategies and the initiative launched by Banca Ifis goes precisely in the direction of the green transition. The bank will support two major reforestation projects, one in Veneto and one in Lombardy, with over 2,200 trees planted. On the occasion of the Christmas holidays, the Bank gave each Group employee a new tree to reduce carbon dioxide emissions into the environment. Almost 1,900 specimens will be planted starting next spring in the Brenta River Park, in the province of Padua, and in the Oglio Sud Regional Park, in the province of Cremona. All this will be achieved thanks to the partnership with the company Wow Nature, a project of Etifor, a spin-off company of the University of Padua.

The other important initiative was launched by the Municipality of Milan and aims to increase natural capital by planting three million new trees in the Lombard capital and in the Metropolitan City by 2030. Banca Ifis will contribute 350 native trees, promoting the creation of new green lungs, in a project that will be carried out in collaboration with Arbolia, a benefit company of Snam and the CDP Foundation, and Forestami. The intervention will allow the development of new green areas near the Milan motorway junctions.

Two projects that strengthen Banca Ifis’ vision and commitment to the green transition. With the recent adhesion to the Net-Zero Banking Alliance, an initiative promoted by the United Nations to accelerate the sustainable transition of the international banking sector, it has created an internal Committee dedicated to Sustainability, supporting programs for green financing. In 2021 it promoted circular economy initiatives, donating over 500 furnishings including desks, wardrobes, shelves and chairs of the former Milanese offices in Corso Venezia 12 to 12 non-profit organizations that support solidarity projects in Italy and abroad.
