More than 230 objects, many of which are rare, including a travel desk that belonged to the Romanian King Carol I, will be offered at the historic Artmark auction scheduled for September at Cesianu-Rakovica Palace, the Agerpress agency reported to BTA.
The selection in this history auction also includes some firsts, including a travel desk, circa 1890, that belonged to King Carol I. It bears the king’s monogram. The starting price is set at 1,500 euros, reports Artmark.
Also up for auction at the same event are other royal items, including a crystal and silver carafe with the coat of arms of Queen Elizabeth of Romania, the lid of which is engraved with the Eberhardt workshop; a photograph of Princess Maria, the future queen, signed in her own hand, taken at the Mandy workshop in Bucharest; a photo of Princess Maria (Mignon), autographed, and a vintage photo of Queen Maria and her daughter, Princess Marioara (Mignon), autographed by both.
The historic auction also includes a selection of numismatic items, with lots appearing for the first time in public, including two extremely rare coins – a 1400-1432 Gros, Alexander Dobria, Moldavia silver coin, and a 1457- 1504 of Gross, Stephen the Great, also of silver.
The entire collection of historical objects is presented in an exhibition with free admission in the Artmark galleries, every day, Monday to Sunday, between 10:00 and 20:00.
