Over 278,000 Young Colombians Set to Receive Financial Support in New Renta Joven Cycle

Prosperidad Social announced on Monday that 278,761 participants of the Renta Joven program will receive the resources from the fourth cycle, to which $113,508 million will be allocated.

Renta Joven is the evolution of what was once the governmental program Jóvenes en Acción. The program aims at the social and economic inclusion of youth, focusing on access to higher education and SENA students. Beneficiaries receive financial support based on their attendance and academic performance. Additionally, it includes openings for entrepreneurship and postgraduate education.

According to the entity, the incentives corresponding to the fourth cycle of Renta Joven will be delivered from August 29 to September 12.

Thus, resources will be delivered to beneficiaries from Higher Education Institutions for the concepts of permanence and excellence for the second semester of 2023.

Resources will be allocated as follows:

• For 238,458 students from higher education institutions (IES), corresponding to the enrollment report for the period 2024-1, the investment for this delivery will be $95,383 million.

• For 37,733 SENA apprentices, with verification for the period April-May 2024: the investment for this delivery will be $13,633 million.

• First cycle: completed, from April 26 to May 10.

• Second cycle: completed, from July 11 to July 25.

• Third cycle: completed, from July 24 to August 2.

• Fourth cycle: in process, from August 29 to September 12.

• Fifth cycle: from October 18 to November 1.

• Sixth cycle: from December 17 to December 31.

🧑‍🎓 How will payments be made?

Payments for Renta Joven are managed by Daviplata, which is Davivienda’s electronic wallet. According to the entity, specific payment dates will be published through the official channels of Prosperidad Social.

Young people who do not have a bank account to receive the payment have the possibility to open one independently, free of charge, and permanently with the operator.

This subsidy program is the result of the evolution of Jóvenes en Acción and benefits students aged 14 to 28 who are enrolled in IES, SENA, and higher normal schools.

Requirements for Renta Jóven

1. Be between 14 and 28 years old.

2. Have a registration in the official enrollment systems in secondary education as a graduate of vocational secondary education (11°).

3. Be included in one of the following targeting bases:

3.1 Be registered in the current Sisbén or its equivalent, with a classification as a population group in extreme poverty, poverty, and vulnerability.

3.2 Be registered in the census lists of the indigenous population managed by the Ministry of the Interior.

3.3 Be registered in the census lists of the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare for populations under restorative rights measures who are pursuing higher education or complementary training under the protection of this entity.

4. Be enrolled in a complementary training process or higher education at the technical, technological, or university (undergraduate) levels in person, traditional distance, or virtual modality.

5. Not have a record in official higher education systems of a university professional title and/or postgraduate degree.

6. Not have an active registration in the Young Peace program or its equivalent strategy.
