The national coaching seminar, organized by the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation, the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Vasil Levski National Sports Academy, aroused great interest. The event was held in hall 3 in the Rectorate of the National Academy of Sciences. More than 50 coaches participated in it, and it was open to all interested parties and mandatory for specialists who fall under the MMS program.
The seminar was opened by the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Stoyan Andonov, who welcomed all those present.
“I want to thank the organizers – the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation and the National Sports Academy, because really the exchange of experience between coaches is something extremely important, regardless of whether you are competitors and rivals on the field, as fellow coaches you should share ideas and experience. I am extremely glad that people whom we admired on the field and on the coaching bench are gathered here. I wish you fruitful work,” Andonov began the seminar.
The program included three panels with the participation of eminent specialists in the field – Antonina Zetova, Associate Professor Georgi Bozhilov and Nikola Dimitrov.
The coach of the national team for women under 18, Antonina Zetova, was honored to speak first among the speakers. She shared with the participants the good practices from this season, in which she won a historic European title, and the team led by her also reached the final of the Balkan Championship. Its topic was “Onset systems”, and the theoretical part was supported by many analyzes from specific meetings and selected video moments. Her experience and results with the national women’s under-18 team aroused undisguised interest among her colleagues, who also asked questions after the lecture.
The academic panel was entrusted to Prof. Dr. Georgi Bozhilov, who works at the National Academy of Sciences in the Faculty of Pedagogy (head of the Basketball, Volleyball, Handball department, Volleyball sector). He presented his topic “Personal psychological characteristics of the volleyball players” for over an hour, and at the end he explained that he tried to synthesize three lectures into one. Prof. Bozhilov, who is also a former volleyball player and coach, impressed the attendees with his methodical guidelines for increasing the effectiveness of the volleyball players’ game .
A more unconventional approach was taken by the last lecturer in the seminar – Dr. Nikola Dimitrov. His task was to summarize this year’s Coaching Convention of the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV), which was again held in Sofia (September 13-15). Dimitrov bombarded the participating coaches with questions, which greatly activated them. He paid the most attention to the topic of “Neurology in sports”, giving many examples and ideas for work, especially with adolescent athletes. In recent years, Dimitrov has been one of the leading lecturers of CEV on the project “With volleyball at school”.
“Thank you to everyone who took part and for the attention! – in the final part, Nikolay Ivanov, chief coordinator of the national teams at the BFW, also addressed the coaches. – We are at such a stage where we have to create this culture and this attitude – of sharing information, asking questions, engaging in discussions, etc. Last year was more passive, this year was much better, and God willing, we will be even better next year. You are the people you work with children and you create them as athletes and achievers. And you are the people who can share knowledge. No one imposes an opinion, we just have to go in this way – of sharing information and communication. In my opinion, this is a very important thing and we are going in the right direction. It may be a little more difficult and not at the pace that we want, but this kind of communication will enrich us all and will help us in our work. Everyone is fighting for something and to develop.”
The national coaching seminar is organized with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and is financed under the “Program for financial support of projects for personnel and scientific-methodical provision of sports federations for 2024″, as well as with the courtesy of the National Sports Academy.
