In the next academic year, 63,909 students will be included in activities under the National Program “Together in the Arts and in Sports” of the Ministry of Education and Science, the department reports.
5,242 groups have been formed throughout the country, in which children will be engaged in various types of arts and team sports. The program will be implemented for the third year in a row, and the number of participants is constantly growing.
The total budget of the program is over BGN 25 million. With the allocated funds, the schools buy stage costumes, instruments, sound equipment, sets, sports teams and equipment, etc. There are also funds for remuneration of professionals in various fields to lead activities.
The rules allow the leaders of the groups in the respective direction to be from the school itself as well as external specialists in the field of music, dance, theater, film, photography and fine arts and in team sports (basketball, volleyball, football and handball).
Over the years, numerous sports teams, theater studios, vocal and instrumental groups, and other ensembles have been formed. The participation of students in activities of interest helps to increase their educational results, increases their discipline, helps to form skills for proper organization of time and cultivates tolerance to the world around them, commented the Ministry of Education and Culture. Physical activity is also useful for the mental health of adolescents, they contribute to the emotional and social development of students, adds the Ministry of Education.
