Over a year after the shooting on the set: an indictment was filed against Alec Baldwin

Hiri Al Hast: The prosecution in New Mexico has filed an indictment against actor Alec Baldwin, for causing the death of photographer Helena Hutchins on the set of the movie “Rust,” Vanity Fair reported today (Thursday). In the indictment, the actor and the gunman Hannah Gutierrez Reid are charged with manslaughter. If Baldwin is convicted, he faces up to 18 months in prison. According to the report, no charges will be filed against the two for the injury of the film’s director Joel Souza.

Special prosecutor Andrea Reeve handled the case after the incident that happened in October 2021. “If Alec Baldwin or Hannah Gutierrez Reed had done their jobs, Helena Hutchins would be alive today. It’s that simple,” Reeve said in a statement to the media. “The evidence clearly shows a pattern of criminal disregard for safety on the film set. New Mexico has no place for film sets that do not take seriously our state’s commitment to gun safety and public safety.”

Two months ago, the media in the United States reported that Baldwin filed a lawsuit against the four main director, the director of props, the supplier of props and the person responsible for the weapons in the production of the film.

The FBI investigation revealed that it was impossible for the bullet to have been accidentally fired and that the actor in his own right must have pulled the trigger, despite Baldwin’s claim that he did not pull the trigger and did not know there were bullets in it.
