Azerbaijani cinema has come a long way in parallel with the history of world cinema. Over the years, Azerbaijani cinema has experienced many ups and downs, undergone various transformations, but has always remained true to its national traditions, high spiritual values, and love for art, Deputy Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan Saadat Yusifova said at an event on National Cinema Day at the Nizami Cinema Center, Day.Az reports with reference to Trend.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that the development of modern Azerbaijani cinema is inextricably linked with the name of the great leader Heydar Aliyev, who always paid special attention to this area. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is taking important steps towards the development of Azerbaijani cinema, this area is always in the center of attention of the head of state, she added.
The implementation of programs and projects for the development of national cinema, strengthening the material and technical base of the sector, and successes at international festivals were discussed.
“Over the past twenty years, more than one hundred million manats have been allocated for the development of Azerbaijani cinema, 1,763 feature, documentary and animated films have been shot. The 126-year history of Azerbaijani cinema is of great importance in the formation of national culture, patriotic education, training of young personnel based on the experience of masters, reflecting important social and public issues, solving urgent problems, responding to global challenges by promoting national values in various genres of art, implementing fruitful projects using modern technologies in the audiovisual sphere, recognized in the international arena,” Saadat Yusifova noted.
