Over the past months, more than one drug "point" has been liquidated in Alytus County

During the first three months of this year, officers of the Criminal Police Organized Crime Investigation Department of the Chief Police Commissariat of Alytus arrested five persons suspected of dealing in narcotic or psychotropic substances, and seized more than a kilogram of drugs from illegal circulation.
During the last months, three narcotics “points” were liquidated during successful operations.
In the first days of spring, the officers of the Organized Crime Investigation Department, while checking the received information, arrested three men (24, 24 and 32) in Alytus who had leaflets with plant-based narcotic or psychotropic substances, suspected to be cannabis. All three were charged with illegal possession of narcotic or psychotropic substances without the intent to distribute them. During the continuation of the active pre-trial investigation, the criminalists also arrested two (49-year-old and 33-year-old) men who were selling drugs. One of them is a 33-year-old man from Aly, known to law enforcement, previously convicted of various crimes crimes. After the searches, various containers with plant-based narcotic or psychotropic substances, possibly cannabis, an electronic scale, a grinder, plastic bags for packing the “goods” and cash were found and taken from the accomplices’ houses.
At the end of March, Prienai r. Patrols of the PK Response Department on the Antakalnis-Jieznas-Alytus-Merkinė road stopped a VW Passat car, whose driver (born in 1991) was using the phone while driving the vehicle. The stopped man was behaving strangely, he was nervous, after checking the interior of the car, two plastic packages were found and taken on the back seat. The officers suspect that the man was transporting about half a kilogram of cannabis.
At the beginning of April, ONTS officers successfully busted another drug supply channel operating in the county. 20- and 34-year-old men were arrested in Birštona, suspected of distributing cannabis. In the home of the 20-year-old, officers found a “treasure” of possible cannabis hidden in a suitcase. Cleverly inside a computer processor box the man hid a pistol that he did not have a permit to keep, a scale, a grinder and 4,000 euros in cash. The 34-year-old man from Kaunas, who came “to visit” Birštoniškis, had with him 3,500 euros in cash and a gun, which, like his friend, he did not have a permit for.
Pre-trial investigations into the illegal possession of narcotic or psychotropic substances with the aim of distributing them are carried out by the Alytus district. Officials of the Organized Crime Investigation Department of the KPK KP. The suspects face up to eight years in prison for these crimes.
The investigations are controlled by the prosecutors of the Kaunas District Prosecutor’s Office.
Due to the illegal possession of narcotic or psychotropic substances in three months of 2023, 26 pre-trial proceedings were initiated in the territory under the supervision of Alytus County investigations, one of which is about drug distribution to minors.
33 persons were issued with administrative offense protocols for the use of narcotic, psychotropic or other psychoactive substances without a doctor’s prescription.
In 2022, Alytus district VPK officers seized various narcotic or psychotropic substances, the value of which would reach more than half a million euros on the black market. During the first three months of 2023, almost one hundred thousand euros worth of junk did not enter the streets.
