New Delhi: Tata Sons has stepped down in a bid to appoint a qualified, new CEO to Air India.
Last October, Tata Sons signed an agreement with the Central Government to acquire Air India. Tata Sons bought Air India for Rs 18,000 crore.
In this context, Tata Sons has been actively involved in consulting on how to successfully run Air India.
In particular, it is said that a foreigner may be selected for the post. In addition, Tata Sons has reportedly decided to hand over the responsibility of selecting the team to run Air India to itself.
Meanwhile, discussions are underway to merge Air Asia India and Air India Express into Air India’s budget airline division.
