Member of the team that makes up the team McLarenthe Mexican Patricio O’Ward will have a special participation within the Formula 1 This season, during the Mexican Grand Prix to be held at the end of October.
Through a video posted on his social media, the current IndyCar driver, but also registered as a reserve driver for the British team in the Grand Prix, confirmed that he will race during one of the free practice sessions during the GP that will be run at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
“I have some very exciting news to tell everyone today. I will be joining McLaren at the Mexican Grand Prix, but this time I will be getting in the car for the first free practice.”reported the Monterrey native.
Forced to comply with the regulations that require placing two drivers in at least one training session of an official calendar, McLaren will use the Mexican to cover this quota during the Mexico City Grand Prix, as it did in previous years during the practice sessions in Abu Dhabi during 2022 and 2023.

The Mexican stressed that with one date pending to finish the season in IndyCar, he has his mind focused on the Nashville GP, but will fly immediately after that to Europe to begin working with the Formula 1 team. “The car has been a rocket this year, so I will try to do my part and help them as much as I can for the rest of the year”
