A-list celebrities have been using the Type-2 diabetes medication Ozempic to burn off excess fat, experiencing successful weight loss at rapid speeds. However, one Texas woman, Maria Rosas, has come forward with a harrowing tale of severe burns and charred skin on her genitals, anus, and buttocks after using the drug.
Rosas, a professor of Pharmacology Health at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, noticed pieces of skin on her toilet seat and tissue paper after using Ozempic. She soon realized that her genitals, anus, and buttocks were severely burned, resembling a sunburn of extreme intensity.
According to Rosas, the burning pain began in her back, shoulders, and arms, which she initially attributed to post-COVID neuropathy pain. However, the pain intensified, causing her to seek medical help. Her doctor advised her to discontinue the use of Ozempic, suspecting that it may have caused the burns as one of its less-talked-about side effects includes rashes, itching, or hives.
Rosas is not alone in experiencing these devastating effects. Other patients have reported severe side effects such as suicidal thoughts and stomach paralysis after using Ozempic. Joanie Knight from Angie, Louisiana, stated that the medicine made her life hell, while a Canadian woman named Amelia became suicidal due to the weekly dosages.
After discontinuing the injections on September 5, Rosas has seen some improvement in her condition, but she still experiences pain during urination and defecation. She has filed a complaint with Ozempic and reported the incident to the Food & Drug Administration (FDA).
Rosas warns others about the dangerous side effects of Ozempic and advises against its use, despite acknowledging its positive impact on lowering blood sugar levels. She wants to heal before starting any medication again and is currently following a strict diet to control her glucose levels.
While Ozempic has been hailed as a “miracle” drug for weight loss by celebrities and many users, Rosas’ traumatic experience highlights the need for more awareness about potential adverse effects. Patients must be cautious and consult their healthcare providers about any concerns or side effects they may experience while using this medication.
