(ANSA) – ROME, SEPTEMBER 18 – “Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni received President Mario Draghi at Palazzo Chigi this afternoon. The long meeting focused on an in-depth discussion of the Report on the future of European competitiveness presented by Draghi, which according to the Government contains several important ideas”. This was reported in a note from Palazzo Chigi, indicating among these “the need for a greater push towards innovation, the demographic issue, the supply of critical raw materials and the control of value chains and, more generally, the need for Europe to provide suitable tools to implement its ambitious strategies – from strengthening the defense industry to dual transitions – without excluding anything a priori, including the possibility of a new common debt”. “Shared priorities which – the note specifies – also reflect the work carried out by the Government in Italy and in the European institutions”. Giorgia Meloni and Mario Draghi “agreed to stay in touch to continue to examine in depth” the matters contained in the report on European competitiveness. (ANSA).
