Pablo Lavandeira’s Future Uncertain as Melgar’s Star Faces Eligibility Rule

by time news

If a footballer plays for a few seconds in the Clausura Tournament for a team, then he cannot play for another. This is established by the Liga1 regulations, and apparently, this is the problem currently affecting Pablo Lavandeira, who has not been considered by Marco Valencia at Melgar.

Despite being physically fit, the midfielder has not been in the 3-0 victory over Cusco FC and the 5-2 win over César Vallejo, in the first and second rounds, respectively. Amid the transfer market, the Uruguayan-Peruvian player has been approached by Alianza Lima and could be a reinforcement if both parties reach an agreement.

Let us remember that Pablo Lavandeira has a recent past at Alianza Lima, even winning a championship. However, when he felt he had lost his starting position, he did not hesitate to move to Arequipa to start playing. With the Rojinegros, he found continuity and is one of the best players.

Melgar has been one of the sensations of Liga1, achieving a streak of 15 matches without losing (13 wins and 2 draws). In the next round, they will visit Alianza Atlético de Sullana, and in the fourth round, they will play against Universitario in Arequipa, in one of the key matches of the tournament.
