The candidate for mayor of São Paulo Pablo Marçal (PRTB) challenged the pastor Silas Malafaia to a debate after the controversy that occurred in the demonstrations on Avenida Paulista on September 7.
Pablo Marçal was prevented from going up to the stage because he came after the end of the event, when former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) spoke asking the impeachment by Minister Alexandre de Moraesof the Federal Supreme Court (FSC).
On social media, Pablo Marçal complained about being prevented from going up to the stage and priest Malafaia recorded his video challenging the candidate: “Everyone [os candidatos a prefeito] invited The press spent ten days asking if he was going. Ask if he said anything?”, said the pastor of the Congregation of Victory in Christ (ADVEC).
“He uses social media so strongly, why didn’t he use it strongly to call on September 7?”, asked the priest.
In response, Pablo Marçal recorded a story that compared himself to King David and challenged the priest: “Let’s live here. You say what you want and you listen to what you want, okay? All respect for what you have built in religion, but in politics everything you do is beyond logic. He already supported Paes, he already supported Lula, he’s staying quiet because of Ramagem, so he won’t burn his film, right?”
“Leave it here in São Paulo. Nobody needs you here in São Paulo, Malafaia. All respect for what you took. You know I like you. You are only Eliab in my life. Leave David alone. Or get in the way as much as you can, and let the river flow, okay?” said the candidate, comparing him to the man the Bible describes as “after God’s own heart”.
The position taken for the challenge with the priest was the same position taken by the candidate in debates and interviews about the elections: “You have a challenge, let’s do it alive. Then you curse me. Yesterday you didn’t say I was lying, nobody stopped me. I tasted it. Why were you nervous? I didn’t ask to speak on the microphone, I went up out of respect for the movement. Unfortunately I couldn’t make it in time, I was in El Salvador. ‘All things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to his purposes.’ Kiss, Eliab.”
Pablo Marçal was already compared to King David, when he said that he would not attack Jair Bolsonaro because the time was not there. In his statement, he made an allegory in which the former president Sól would be and who was about to replace him.
