(Reuters) – The president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), said that the House will vote this Tuesday on the draft legislative decree that recognizes the state of calamity in Rio Grande do Sul, indicating that the measure should be approved .

In an interview with GloboNews, Pacheco stated that Congress will still vote on an amendment to the 2024 Budget Guidelines Law (LDO) on Thursday to release parliamentary amendments to Rio Grande do Sul.

The draft legislative decree on the calamity in Rio Grande do Sul was approved in the Chamber of Deputies on Monday. The State has been hit by intense rains in recent days, accumulating around 85 deaths and 134 missing, according to a report from the Civil Defense of Rio Grande do Sul.
