Taxi Operator Accused of Selling Adulterated alcohol Through Facebook in Hidalgo, Mexico

A concerning scheme involving the alleged sale of adulterated alcohol via social media and a local taxi service is unfolding in the Pachuca region of Hidalgo, Mexico. A complainant has come forward with accusations against a seller operating through a Facebook account, alleging a fraudulent purchase and subsequent threats after discovering the potential for risky counterfeit products.

The incident began with a purchase of several bottles of well-known alcohol brands facilitated through Facebook by a seller using the account “ChaaN ch.” According to the complainant, the seller also works as a taxi operator in the metropolitan area of the state capital, delivering the 5,500-peso order directly to the buyer’s home while on duty.

Days later, the buyer, with the assistance of his brother, noticed irregularities in the alcohol – specifically, imperfections in the liquid and worn stamps on the bottles – raising suspicions that the containers had been refilled with potentially harmful, adulterated content.

When confronted, the seller reportedly agreed to a second meeting under the guise of another sale. During this encounter, when questioned about the suspected scam, the seller claimed a temporary lack of funds but offered a taxi plate warranty, a copy of his official identification (INE), and a bank card as collateral, promising a full refund the following day.

This promise was broken.Approximately two weeks later, the taxi’s owner visited the buyer’s home, offering to return the money in exchange for the taxi plate, but ultimately failed to follow through.
