Pacific Track & Field Teams Post Strong Performances at University of Portland Meet

The Pacific track and field teams kicked off their indoor season with a series of strong showings at the University of Portland Indoor #1 meet on Sunday,with several athletes achieving personal bests and climbing the program’s all-time performance lists.The meet included competition in the 200-meter, 600, 800, and mile races.
Barnett-Grizzell Shines in Debut
Freshman Zaccarius Barnett-Grizzell made an immediate impact, finishing third overall in the men’s 200-meter race with a time of 23.33 seconds. This marked his frist competition as a Boxer and secured him the sixth-best time in the program’s indoor men’s 200m history.
Tiernan, Ortega, O’Neill, and Boddy Achieve Top-Ten Rankings
Senior Courtney Tiernan delivered a solid performance in the 600-meter race, clocking in at 1:52.24. This time ranks as the fourth-best all-time for Pacific in the event.Sophomores Lauren Ortega and Ananda O’neill also earned spots on the program’s all-time top ten lists in the women’s and men’s 800-meter races, respectively, both securing the seventh position with times of 2:29.93 and 2:05.55. Junior Morgan Boddy rounded out the impressive day, finishing ninth in the mile with a time of 5:27.82, which is the seventh-fastest mile time in Pacific history.
“We had a lot of solid performances today,” said head coach Ryan Huntersimms. “We are very pleased with this rust buster as a coaching staff. We’re excited to have some fun next weekend in Spokane and carry this success forward.”
