The season of the new Confindustria-trade unions concertation lasted only a month. The “pact for Italy” proposed by the president of Viale Dell’Astronomia Carlo Bonomi (and supported by the Prime Minister Mario Draghi) seems to be at a difficult curve even before the real start of the confrontation. “There are no conditions to make a social pact, even if Confindustria would like to insist on getting there,” said the vice president of Confindustria with responsibility for Industrial Relations Maurizio Stirpe, on the occasion of the association’s youth meeting in Capri.
And again: “A part of the union has an opposite vision” with respect to the idea of a pact that the industrialists have, “prefers direct dialogue with the government, make meetings and agreements and then make them fall on the heads of companies. I told Carlo Bonomi that I prefer to blow a pact like this ». It is inevitable to read in Stirpe’s words a reference in particular to Cgil and Uil. After the “pact of the factory” of 2018 on the perimeter of bargaining, the Confindustria trade union confrontation did not bring about shared proposals to be handed over to the government.
