El Concello de Paderne request to the Xunta the recognition of the Samede carnival as Festival of Tourist Interest in Galicia. This was decided unanimously by all the political groups in the extraordinary plenary session held this Thursday. Paderne tries to achieve recognition at the regional level of the nico traditional entourage of the comarcawhich was recovered between 2015 and 2017 thanks to neighborhood research and the encouragement of various groups.
From the Council they emphasize that the entroido of Samede was already celebrated since before the Civil War, but in 1961 it disappeared. Half a century later, the carnival of the parish of San Xulin de Vigo is fully established in the Paderne calendar, with the recovery of the crossed muieira, its own dance, and the Policarpio Burial as some of the most unique events of a celebration which has bonitos, carolos or vixigueiros as some of its most outstanding figures.
This application to acquire the recognition of Galician Tourist Interest Festival, promoted by the new Paderne government team, is just the first step in a series of initiatives that the local government plans to amplify the impact of this event.
