New Delhi : Day- Thursday, Place- Rashtrapati Bhavan, Dr. KC Rajanna’s name is announced for the Padmashree award. After the announcement the hall echoes with thunderous applause. Many dignitaries including President Draupadi Murmu, PM Modi are present in the hall. Everyone is welcoming with full enthusiasm and respect the person who has become synonymous with courage and passion. Rajanna lost his arms and legs due to polio when he was 11 months old. Today, when he was walking towards the President to receive the Padma Award, there was a twinkle in his eyes and also the happiness of receiving the honour. His chest was full of pride and gratitude was also visible towards those people who were happy in his happiness.
Greeted PM Modi
Before receiving the award he went to PM Modi. On this the PM held his hand. After this, Rajanna bowed his head before the President before going on the stage. He also specially greeted the President. When the President was honoring her with the Padma Shri, there would hardly be anyone in the entire hall who was not proud of her achievement. In the letter honoring Dr. Rajanna, he was described as a disabled social worker committed to the welfare of the disabled.

Rajanna has many achievements in his name
Dr. KS Rajanna is a resident of Mandya district of Karnataka. He is the seventh child of his parents. Despite losing his arms and legs due to polio at the age of 11, his enthusiasm never diminished. She not only completed her studies but also learned writing, handicrafts as well as discus throw, driving and swimming. In 1975 he passed the State Civil Service examination. In 1980 he also obtained a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Rajanna has also won two medals in Paralympics in the year 2003. Rajanna was appointed commissioner in the state at the age of 54. Rajanna holds a diploma in mechanical engineering.
He has won praise as an athlete, winning a gold medal in discus throw and a silver medal in swimming at the 2002 Paralympics. He started his own business. In this he provided employment to more than 500 people including physically handicapped people. According to Dr. Rajanna, there is no political reservation for persons with disabilities (PWD). In such a situation, he expressed hope that this award will motivate the state and central government to appoint a disabled person as a member of the Legislative Council or Rajya Sabha.
