The president of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, takes office this Saturday for the third consecutive time after having obtained this week the investiture of the Chamber with the votes of the absolute majority of the Socialist Party, the only one that he obtained the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party in the elections of May 28.

It will be this afternoon at eight when the head of the autonomous Executive is sworn in, since it is a tradition that he uses this formula and not that of the promise. He did it when he was mayor of Toledo for two legislatures and he did it again when he assumed maximum responsibility in the Government of Castilla-La Mancha.

García-Page will thus effectively begin his third legislature as president of Castilla-La Mancha, after two terms in which he had to govern at first with Podemos and then alone, obtaining a large absolute majority. In these last elections, he revalidated that majority by a smaller margin, but enough not to depend on anyone. With a difference of one hundred and twenty thousand votes over the PP, but barely a thousand over the PP-Vox sum in the province of Ciudad Real, Page will have the opportunity to form a government without ties of any kind or mortgages.

The next step will be precisely that, the formation of a new executive that will probably follow very similar guidelines to the previous ones, although with the undoubted changes that every ruler makes to give greater momentum and speed to his executive action. In the next few days, probably hours, the names of the new government will be leaked so that at the beginning of next week they can also take office and hold the first government council.

Those who know Emiliano García-Page well know that the politician does not like to lose his pulse on political activity, not even at the beginning of the legislature, where precisely because of this, he prints a greater personal and distinctive stamp. This same week we have been able to verify it in his speech at the Investiture Debate, which was held in the old convent of San Gil.

García-Page made a fiery defense of public services, announced their shielding, in the same way that he placed special emphasis on measures in areas that are the subject of political diatribe these days in the PP-Vox pacts, such as equality, gender violence or the defense of the rights of groups such as the LGTBI.

A reform of the Castilla-La Mancha Statute was also advanced to change, among other issues, the electoral law and make it more equitable, something that has already advanced on Region Day in Manzanares. An issue in which he would like to have the consensus of the Popular Party and Vox, but which has not always been easy because electoral legislation has historically also been the subject of confrontation in the autonomous community.

The politician hopes that this legislation will be that of employment and the installation of companies

Page, on the other hand, has been firm and solid in other traditional approaches in the region, such as water. He has emphasized the importance of calling on both popular and members of the formation of Santiago Abascal to “portray” and defend the water of the Castilian-La Mancha community against the Tajo-Segura transfer.

As for current political issues to which Page never likes to lose face, in a clear play on words he has used the expression “I don’t change my mind” on issues such as Puigdemont’s. Page continues to be in favor of returning to Spain and complying with the law, in the same way that he declined this week the offer of Alberto Núñez Feijóo to mediate before Pedro Sánchez in order for the most voted list to govern.

Finally, on issues of economy or taxation, the President of the Board did not miss the opportunity last week either to re-propose a tax harmonization that frees the autonomies from “dumping” by the most competitive ones. And he added that he hopes that this is beginning the legislature of employment and the installation of companies, as well as improvement in many other areas. “Within four years I believe that, with the government that I intend to form, there will be more employment, more companies, more health, more education, more social benefits and more equality,” he declared. At the moment, today begins his third term.
