The political games taking place in South Sri Lanka have left the Sinhalese in a state of shock and positive attitudes towards the Tamils have also started to emerge.
Yesterday’s naval frenzy at Kalimugat was something that the Sinhalese never expected. The people there were brutally attacked by the marines and many were arrested.
The information released by Dylan Senanayake, one of the coordinators of the eviction demonstrations based on such an attack, has made Sinhalese think.
Commenting on social media from the protest site, he said, “If they are attacking us so badly, how could the army have attacked the Tamils.
We celebrated war while people died in war. If that is the case then how could we have been fooled and singled out Tamils as tigers. They made us angry with Prabhakaran by what was shown on television.
We also dismissed them as LTTE and terrorists. If that is the case then there is justification in the anger of the Tamils towards the Sinhalese people. He mentioned that the operation of the army is in such a state.
A large number of Sinhalese have released their responses to accept Dylan’s video. It is noteworthy that many human rights organizations, including the UN, have condemned the military’s attack on Khali.
