Paju City held a meeting of the local emergency medical council on September 4th and discussed ways to minimize the medical gap and strengthen emergency medical cooperation during the Chuseok holiday from September 14th to 18th.

The meeting was attended by officials from four emergency medical institutions within the Paju City Emergency Medical Council, including Gyeonggi-do Medical Center Paju Hospital, Medi-in Hospital, Mucheok Jo-eun Hospital, and Munsan Central Hospital, as well as the Paju Fire Department and Paju City Medical Association.

This meeting sought to find ways to prevent overcrowding at emergency medical institutions during the Chuseok holiday period so that emergency patients can receive appropriate treatment, and discussed measures to cooperate with each relevant organization in case of emergency patients during the Chuseok holiday.

Looking at the details of the response plan, the Paju City Medical Association encouraged participation from medical institutions that are open during the holiday period, emergency medical institutions will maintain a 24-hour emergency treatment system to prepare for emergency situations, and the Paju Fire Department will actively cooperate in transporting emergency patients.

In addition, it was decided to establish and operate an ‘Emergency Medical Management Situation Team’ headed by the Vice Mayor of Paju City to operate an emergency medical system. The ‘Emergency Medical Management Situation Team’ will conduct inspections of the emergency medical system in the region, provide guidance on open medical institutions and pharmacies, provide guidance on COVID-19 fever clinics, and provide guidance on cooperative hospitals.

There are 115 hospitals and 132 pharmacies in the area that are open during the holiday period. The operating status can be checked on the Paju City website (paju.go.kr), the emergency medical portal E-Gen, and the app (providing emergency medical information), and you can also get information from the Ministry of Health and Welfare Call Center (129), Gyeonggi Province Call Center (120), 119 Emergency Situation Management Center, and Paju City Paju Health Center (031-940-4886).

The city urged patients with mild symptoms to visit a nearby hospital (a medical institution that is open).

Lee Han-sang, head of Paju Health Center and chairman of the Paju City Emergency Medical Council, said, “We will actively cooperate with medical institutions and fire stations to ensure that the medical system in the region can operate normally during the Chuseok holiday period.” He added, “We will prevent operational restrictions due to overload of emergency medical institutions by distributing patients according to severity of symptoms, and establish a cooperative system with hospitals and related organizations in the region to relieve citizens’ anxiety about a medical vacuum during the Chuseok holiday.”
