Paju City, presents ‘GTX-centered bus route reorganization plan’ reflecting citizens’ opinions

by times news cr

Paju City has come up with a second revision plan that includes adding one more route (7 more buses) to the number of city buses originally planned, reflecting citizens’ opinions on the ‘GTX Bus Route Reorganization Plan’ announced in July.

The ‘GTX Bus Route Reorganization Plan’ focuses on shortening the travel time from each region of Paju City to GTX Unjeong Station. The goal of this reorganization plan is that when the new bus route system is completed according to the reorganization plan, buses will be able to arrive at GTX Unjeong Station within ▲10-minute intervals in the Unjeong area and arrive within 15 minutes ▲15-minute intervals in the Geumchon area and arrive within 30 minutes ▲40-minute intervals in other regions and arrive within 60 minutes.

Initially, the city had been pushing for an increase of 40 city buses and village buses by the end of this year by creating four new GTX-linked routes and adjusting seven existing routes as specific implementation plans for this, but there have been persistent opinions from citizens that the routes and number of additional buses should be increased further considering the situation in which new city apartments are rapidly increasing in the second half of this year and next year.

Since the announcement of the reorganization plan in July, the total number of citizen opinions received has reached approximately 1,450. Representative opinions mainly demanded ▲connection between Book City and GTX Station ▲straightening between Cholong Flower Village and GTX Station ▲shortening the travel time between Garam·Haesol Village and GTX Station.

The second reorganization plan that the city has recently put forth is the result of actively accepting such opinions from citizens, and focuses on improving accessibility to GTX stations in Garam, Haesol, and Chorongkkot Village by creating one new city bus route (seven buses) and extending the operation of village bus number 081 to improve transfer convenience to the publishing city.

Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju City said, “In order to innovate the transportation environment in Paju City, we will complete the reorganization of bus routes centered on the GTX without a hitch.” He added, “We will continue to actively reflect citizens’ opinions, review the demand for each route, and periodically pursue reorganization of routes that are deemed unreasonable.”
