Neighboring Pakistan is suffering from a severe financial crisis. The country’s foreign exchange reserves continue to decline. The government, led by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, is struggling to cope with the economic crisis.

In this context, the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan has come up with an innovative idea to increase employment in the country and reduce the cost of tea imports. Accordingly, the commission has advised people to drink local drinks like ‘lassi’ and ‘sattu sarpad’ instead of tea. The Commission has also sent a circular to the Vice Chancellors of Public Sector Universities to encourage the public to do this.

Earlier in the week, Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal had urged people to reduce their tea consumption to reduce the cost of importing tea.
