(Owais Kayani) The nuclear power plant established with the cooperation of China in Karachi was visited for the first time by the ambassador of any country. This visit is a reflection of the nuclear cooperation between Pakistan and China. Zedong along with his delegation visited 2 nuclear power plants ‘K2’ and ‘K3’ in Karachi.

Chairman Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission Dr. Raja Ali Raza Anwar welcomed the distinguished guests, these two power plants have been established with the cooperation of friendly country China and are supplying a total of 2200 MW of electricity to the national grid.
Briefing the Chinese delegation regarding Pakistan’s nuclear power program, Chairman Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission Dr. Raja Ali Raza Anwar said in his welcome speech that the visit of the Chinese guests is a reflection of the growing nuclear cooperation between the governments of Pakistan and China. On this occasion, Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission gave detailed information about Pakistan’s nuclear power program.
Later, the Chinese ambassador expressed his views saying that he was happy to visit the K2 and K3 nuclear power plants site and this visit is a reflection of the importance attached by the Chinese government, he added. That the nuclear power plants built by Chinese companies in Pakistan are playing an important role in the welfare of the people and the development of the society.
The Chinese Ambassador took special interest in the initiatives taken by the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission under Corporate Social Responsibility CSR in the communities adjacent to the nuclear power plants. The distinguished guest is the first ambassador to visit an operational nuclear power plant in Pakistan.
