Islamabad: An incident of cruelty against a Sikh woman for nine months has come to light in Pakistan’s Punjab province. Two people kidnapped a 40-year-old Pakistani Sikh woman. After this, both of them gang-raped the woman for nine months. The incident is from Faisalabad district of Punjab, about 130 km from Lahore. The kidnappers also took the woman’s minor son with them. Police claimed on Friday that the Sikh woman and her minor son have been rescued. Along with this, the kidnappers of the woman have also been arrested. News agency PTI quoted police officer Zainab Khalid posted in Faisalabad as saying that the Sikh woman is a resident of Nankana Sahib. She was held hostage by two brothers from Faisalabad. Both the accused have been identified as Khurram Shahzad and Qiz Shahzad. Both of them raped the woman repeatedly for nine months.

The police officer said that the woman is a divorcee. A friend of the woman, Saima, introduced her to the accused Khurram in Nankana Sahib a few years ago. ASP Zainab said that in December last year, she asked Khurram to drop her minor son from Nankana Sahib to his sister’s house in Faisala, but he held the boy hostage and forced the woman to come to his house. Here he held both of them hostage and raped the woman repeatedly for nine months along with his brother.

Police rescued him after 9 months

The ASP said that the police started investigation on the complaint of the woman’s relative and on August 14, raided Khurram’s house and recovered her and her son. ASP Khalid further said that the police team also managed to arrest both the accused. The Sikh woman said that she was tortured when she resisted the rape.
