Islamabad: Pakistan, terrified by the attacks of the extremist organization Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), has appealed to the United Nations. Islamabad told the United Nations on Wednesday that the TTP is using Afghan soil to attack inside Pakistan. Pakistan’s Union Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi raised this issue during a meeting with UN Special Representative for Afghanistan Indrika Ratwatte. He urged the United Nations to play a role in stopping terrorist attacks from across the border. Pakistan has seen a rise in terrorist attacks after the Taliban returned to power in neighboring Afghanistan.

TTP carried out major attacks in Pakistan

The TTP has carried out major attacks along the northern border with Afghanistan, particularly targeting Pakistani security forces and foreign investments in Pakistan. Islamabad has repeatedly demanded action against terrorist bases inside Afghanistan but the Taliban government in Kabul has refused. There has been a lot of tension between Afghanistan and Pakistan on the border over the TTP issue. According to a report by Pakistani news outlet Tribune, the TTP issue and the use of Afghan soil was one of the main discussion points during talks between the Home Minister and the UN delegation.

Pakistan itself became a victim of terrorism

In an official statement, the minister was quoted as saying that terrorism is a global issue and Pakistan is the most affected country. He stressed that Pakistan’s security forces, police and people have made sacrifices in the war against terrorism. The Pakistani Home Minister informed the UN delegation about the involvement of TTP in terrorist attacks in Pakistan.

Accusations against Afghanistan

Naqvi said that TTP is using Afghan soil for these attacks, which should be stopped. He said that Pakistan wants peace and stability in Afghanistan and is providing all possible help in this regard. He also sought information about the deportation of Afghan refugees from Pakistan.
