Both sides are using heavy weapons. Local sources said that Afghan forces are building new posts in the border area along the Durand Line, due to which the clash started. There is a dispute between Pakistan and Afghanistan over the border.

Quoting local sources, Khaama Press reported that Afghan Taliban forces have been building a checkpoint here for three days. Quoting local and Afghan sources, Mahaz News reported late at night that the firing between the two sides has stopped for the time being. Locals on the Pakistani side have feared that many people from both sides have been killed, but no detailed information is available yet.

Pakistan-Afghanistan border dispute

An imaginary Durand Line separates Pakistan and Afghanistan from each other. However, no government of Afghanistan has recognized this line as the actual border. Due to this, there has always been tension between Pakistan and Afghanistan. After the return of the Taliban to power in Afghanistan in the year 2021, Pakistan was hoping to get relief from the border dispute.

The Taliban has not only adopted the previous stance on the border dispute but has also gone a step further and started staking its claim on the areas along the border. The establishment of security posts by the Taliban on the border is an extension of this claim. Taliban forces have also opposed the fencing of the border by Pakistan and there have been clashes between the two on this issue many times.
