Pakistani media worker shot dead by police in Kenya

Nairobi: Pakistan’s prominent media activist has reportedly been killed in Kenya. Senior media worker Arshad Sharif was killed. He was shot dead by the police.

International media reports that the incident happened on Sunday. Sharif was shot in Nairobi. A group of thieves shot at the police and ran away. Sharif was shot while the police were trying to arrest them.

The police had set up a barricade on the road to nab the attackers. But the car in which Sharif was traveling passed it. Seeing this, the police mistook the car for the assailants. With this, shots were fired at the car. Sharif refused to stop the car despite firing the first two shots. After this, they fired again at the vehicle. Shots were fired at the vehicle nine times. Sharif was killed by a bullet in his forehead. Police informed that his relative was driving the vehicle at the time of the incident.

Police have started an investigation into the incident. Pakistan has come out with a strong protest on Sharif’s murder. Sharif is a media activist who was exiled by Pakistan on charges of sedition.
