Pakistani music documentary film won international awards

(Web Desk) Pakistani music documentary film “Songs of the Sufi” won the Best Documentary Audience Choice Award at the 15th Chicago South Asian Film Festival.

This documentary tells the story of classical Qawwali through Qawwals, fans, devotees and music scholars from the Qawwal Bacha family.

The documentary is filmed combining mystical art, Mughal miniature paintings, Qawwalis, interviews and true storytelling by renowned Pakistani artists.

Chicago South Asian Film Festival director Jigar Shah says, “I am delighted that this documentary has won our festival. Shahrukh Waheed and Kamran Anwar have brought this masterpiece to the big screen in a wonderful way.”

The director of the documentary, Shah Rukh Waheed, says, “We feel great that our documentary is being appreciated by the audience from all over the world. It is our tribute to the art of qawwali and the qawwali families for keeping this sacred art alive. And we want to share it with the world.
