The government led by Shabazz Sharif, who was the prime minister of Pakistan, dissolved the parliament on August 9 last year. Anwar ul Haq Khaggar has been acting as the caretaker Prime Minister since the dissolution of Parliament. In this context, parliamentary elections are going to be held in Pakistan on February 8.

In this case, the government of Pakistan has decided to involve the soldiers in the security work during the elections to be held on February 8. The decision to deploy the army was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by caretaker Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq Khaggar.

An official statement released at the end of the cabinet meeting later said, “On the recommendation of the Ministry of Interior, the Union Cabinet has approved the deployment of Pakistan Army and Civilian Armed Forces personnel for the peaceful conduct of general elections. These forces will perform their duties in tense constituencies and polling stations.”

It is noteworthy that this decision was taken after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) requested the appointment of 2 lakh 77 thousand soldiers to maintain the security and law and order situation in the country as more than 126 million Pakistani voters are going to vote in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
