The director of infrastructure management within Tafita, the body within the Ministry of Youth and Sports which manages the use of the Palace of Sports and Culture in Mahamasina maintains that the gathering planned for Friday September 29 by the collective of candidates at this location will not take place there.
The site is already reserved for another event and the meeting planned by the 11 candidates does not appear in the schedule, declared this Tafita manager in a press release dated September 26. The press release was posted on the Facebook page of the Ministry of Youth and Sports yesterday.
For his part, Andry Raobelina, who represented the collective of candidates, affirms that during his interview with the sales manager of Tafita, the latter confirmed the availability of the site on this date, hence the collective’s request submitted on September 25.
A request for authorization for a public demonstration to the Prefecture of the city of Antananarivo was submitted by the collective the same day but the latter has not yet made its decision.
The collective of candidates has embarked on a fierce struggle since the validation of Andry Rajoelina’s candidacy and the establishment of collegial government. At the beginning of the evening, the FFKM invited the 13 candidates for the presidential election for a closed-door meeting. Andry Rajoelina did not attend and was represented by Augustin Andriamananoro. The latter would have been turned away by the other candidates present who would have asked the FFKM not to take into account the presence of a representative. From today, another envoy from the Secretary General of the United Nations is expected in Madagascar to try to resolve the political crisis.
