Palakkad: 28-year-old Mohammad Anees is waiting for his mother and sister who went missing 10 years ago in Nechulli, Mannarkkad. The mystery behind the disappearance of the young woman and her daughter, who went with her husband’s brother, has not been resolved even after a year. The family’s complaint is that no action was taken by the Mannarkkad police despite filing a complaint.

On November 17, 2012, Nechulli late Ashraf’s wife Zainaba and her 16-year-old daughter Farsana left home saying they were on a pilgrimage to Mampurum and Ponnani. She went with her husband’s brother Abduti. Zainaba also said that she will return in the evening. Even after days, no information was received about them.

Then on November 25, his son Muhammad Anees filed a complaint with the Mannarkkad police. The complaint was settled months later after showing that they could not be found. Meanwhile, Abdutti had come to the country once. He was not detained or interrogated by the police that day. The family members are waiting without knowing whether the mother and sister are dead or alive.

A year later, the family members came to know that the dead bodies of a woman and a girl were found in Puttur police station in South Karnataka. But it wasn’t them. Three days after the disappearance of Zainaba and Farzane, Anees was unable to confirm the photographs of the bodies of the victims. Zainaba’s relatives went to Karnataka and other places many times but to no avail. The family members are waiting without even knowing whether they are dead or alive.
