Palamedu Jallikattu Competition: Chinnapatti Tamilarasan Tames 6 Bulls, Car and Bike Prizes, 2 Injured, 7 Disqualified for Alcohol

Madurai: The world famous Palamedu jallikattu competition started today (Jan. 16) at 7 am. In this, Chinnapatti Tamilarasan is leading by taming 6 bulls.

Yesterday (Jan.,15) ahead of Pongal Day, Avaniyapuram Jallikattu competition went well. About 900 cows were unchained and 600 cattlemen participated.

In this situation today, the day of Mattu Pongal, the Palamedu jallikattu competition started at 7 am. Minister Murthy inaugurated the jallikattu competition at Madurai Balamet. Collector Sangeetha, MLAs Venkatesan and Bhoominathan were present. A re-medical examination was conducted for bulls and bulls who received the online token before the start of the competition. After examination they were admitted to Jallikattu.

1000 bulls and 700 cowherds have been given token to participate in Palamedu Jallikattu. Jallikattu started after the cowherds accepted the pledge. First 6 temple bulls were untied.

6 bulls

At the end of the second round, 213 cows were untied and 37 cows were tamed by the festival committee. In this, Tamilarasan is at the top by taming 6 bulls. Prabhakaran is in 2nd position with 4 bulls and Ajith and Raja are in 3rd position with 3 bulls each.

Car, bike gift

At the end of the competition, the player who tamed the most bulls is awarded a Nissan car as the first prize. The 2nd runner-up will be awarded an Apache bike. Also, a car will be awarded to the owner of the best performing bull.

Two injured

At the end of the first round, two cowherd players were reported to have been injured.

7 players disqualified

7 of the players who came to participate in the jallikattu tournament in Balamet were disqualified in the medical examination because they were drinking alcohol.
